Found the hollow on the other side of the tree. The pair did the same routine as last observation, chewing bark in the same places but this time I was able to observe the male go into the hollow briefly for about 30 seconds. Last pic shows the trunk of the Ash that the hollow is in. It looks dead down to below the hollow.
